I have a confession to make. In spite of the fact that I’m an ordained minister, I still find myself struggling at times to comprehend the Word of God. I read a chapter of Proverbs daily; this has been a habit for over 18 years now. Since there are 31 chapters, I read the chapter that corresponds to the day of the month. This means I read the entire book 12 times a year; yet I forever notice something that didn’t catch my attention the month or even year(s) before. I may visit other books based on whatever devotional I’m reading, but since I can always use more wisdom and Solomon was known for his, I never seem to exhaust Proverbs. Some days are easier than others. Most days, I find people very easy to deal with and then there are those other days. I don’t know about you, but I have a string of days where it just seems as if everybody rubs me the wrong way. I have to remind myself that the Word says that “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” I should be able to sew without a needle at this point; that’s how pointy I should be from all the sharpening in my life. The truth of the matter is there are a lot of clowns running around in the world and I don’t find them very amusing.
