It’s a New Season
I’ve seen a LOT of quotes about 365 New Days being equal to 365 Blank Pages. If you have any hint of a writer in you, this means that you recognize we can write 365 new stories. I find this extremely inspiring because it means I can always change the ending if I don’t care for the last one.
Yes, some things are bound to go wrong, but you know what? Some things are bound to go unbelievably right. Life is like that. You take chances just by getting out of bed in the morning. We are humans, not polar bears. We don’t hibernate for much of our lives in caves, exiting only exit to catch food and then return to our caves. (Or do some of us…?)
My point is that we have to keep trying. Edison kept working on that light bulb and even after seeing that his initial idea didn’t work, 10,000 times I’m told, we now have lights in our homes, because he never gave up. And his determination is so admirable because he never looked at himself as a failure, rather he said at the unveiling of his success that he had simply found 10,000 ways it didn’t work. Don’t you love his unsinkable spirit? I know I do.
So, as I face this year, I am purposing in my heart to keep trying, even when things don’t go quite the way I think they “should.” And some of you know how I feel about “shoulding” all over ourselves; we end up in a messy situation, so I try to avoid shoulds at all costs!
I want this year to be a year of flexibility because I believe flexibility will yield knowledge and knowledge will yield growth, and God knows I want to grow! Who’s with me?
